The PIAAC interview

The contribution required of each person selected in the survey consists of an interview lasting around one hour and thirty minutes, conducted in Italian. The interview is carried out with the aid of a computer and with an official PIAAC interviewer in charge.

The interview consists of two consecutive parts. Part one consists of a questionnaire regarding the respondent’s personal data, education/training, and occupational history. Part two consists of a series of questions geared to gathering information on the skills used at work and in everyday life. Since the interview is conducted anonymously and is not a test or assessment, there will be no positive or negative outcome to notify.

The PIAAC interview was designed by the OECD and then adapted to the national context by individual countries participating in the survey.
